All males? where are the females then?

Another week has passed and I managed to catch a few more snow walleyes again. Moon was not in a major phase so they, just like their European cousin were showing the same behavior hitting the lures with their bodies instead of biting. After taking a couple of them "by the hand " ( as I like to say when they are not hooked from the mouth but from the back or a pectoral fin ) I stopped fishing . I normally try more aggressive techniques and lures (size, noise, color) to determine them to bite instead of just hitting the lure or laying over it but if I'm not successful I stop fishing since there is no point in torturing them and let them die. That being said, I could not notice that all the walleye I've caught in the last few weeks, were males even those about 40 cm long (and I caught a few dozen of them) . Now, I have this thought in my mind, if every single one was male, where are the females then?

On the other hand I don"t know the hours during which the Power Plant at Chaudiere is working at night time. I might try once to fish up to midnight although it might be something to remember on the next year, somehow I've got the feeling that fishing is over for this year.
