Anyone interested in carp fishing at Hog's Back?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Anyone interested in carp fishing at Hog's Back?

Post by Pontyhorgasz »

Hey there folks! Moved to Ottawa last week for work, and I'm looking for anyone who might like to go fishing for carp with me. I hear the bridge at Hog's Back is a good spot. Available most weekday evening and weekends! Will buy you a beer  Or ice cream.

Keep in mind, I consider myself a fairly novice angler. :D

If your looking in that area, stay "Above" Not where the water drains, but on the higher side "South" The rowing club will be to the west. I've done well years ago fishing for them where the old "Hogs Back Marina" was. Try different things also. I used to get them casting a 3" grub, looking for walleye and smallies.

I hope this helps, and wish I could join ya, but I'm in the east end.

Feel free to ask for any more tips, if I can help I sure will!

Appreciate the response, FF! Just to be clear, because I'm new to the city, you're saying NOT to fish under the swing bridge (Canal entrance), but rather by the bridge above the falls? There's a small boat launch there, is that the old marina you're referring to?

Thanks again for your patience and willingness to help out :D

That's exactly where I was referring to. There is a small bay on "The top side" of the falls. To the right of the small boat launch. Try the slack water closer to shore, but don't limit to staying close to shore. The swing bridge I've never had any luck at all. Though, you can walk the canal towards Carleton U and see them surface with no boat traffic.

Hope this helps again!
