Hey guys,
Was looking to do some pickrel/ walleye fishing on the Rideau river near Manotick and was hoping for some tips on casting or trolling between Manotick and Kars. Any good spots, water depths, structure type, techniques ( bottom bouncing, troll crank bait, spinners, jig and raps) or baits that I should be trying? Pretty new to walleye fishing and looking for a bit of direction or some tips to get going.
Thanks for the help

Have not fished from a boat on the river, but have caught many fishing from shore in areas between Manotick and Carleton U. where fast/shallow water meets slow/deep water. Favourite lures are 1/8 oz. round jig heads and 2 inch Power Grubs when using light tackle as well as 1/4 oz. round jig heads and 2.5 inch Gulp Minnows when using medium heavy tackle. They can be caught in daylight but I’ve found that overcast/rainy days and dusk are the most productive times.

The 416 bridge has held em in the past. Try jigging a minnow or soft plastic, and evening hours are probably better. Though with the shade of the bridge daytime you can more than likely get them. I'm none to sure of that stretch from a boat, but from shore, right below tho "Old Mill" I've got them there daylight, and dusk with a simple jig and minnow or soft plastic. If your trolling, just stay down the middle, and you never know what will grab hold.
