Hello everyone! I am going on a four person canoe camping trip to Annies Bay in Lake Opeongo Algonquin Park. We are canoeing from the south access point to Annies Bay. We plan on spending most of our time fishing. I'd apprecieate any help on any of the following questions.

What fishing techniquies do you reccomend?
- As of now I am planning on using white tubes and deep tail dancers (dive 30 feet).

What lures do you reccomend?

Are there any particular fishing spots that you reccomend?

Are there lake trout in annies bay? I believe the middle is 60 feet deep.

Have you ever canoed from the south AP to Annies bay? How long would it take experienced canoers to make the trip?

I am fine to spend money on the required gear to ensure my success. I also have a castable fishfinder (lowrace fishhunter pro) which I will be using.

Any information is appreciated.

It's approx 5-6 hour canoe in from the Outfitter to Annie Bay in good conditions. Wind conditions will dictate, could be significantly longer if windy.
Yes, there are Lake Trout in Annie Bay.

As for the Baitprotek... sounds like it was invented by someone with a PHD.

I've fished several lakes in the Park (and near it) for lake trout over the years, but never in Lake Opeongo. For those other lakes, at this time of year, most of the lake trout that I've caught was done by trolling EGB spoons in sizes 3, 3B, 4 and 6 on leadcore line, letting out between 4 to 6 colours of line. I've also (very) occasionally caught them jigging using medium and medium light spinning set ups with 1/4 and 3/8 round jigs and 3 inch Berkley Powerbait and Gulp smelt colour minnows. I know some people who have caught Park lake trout deep trolling (leadcore as well as steel wire) Rapala crankbaits, but I've never tried it myself. I would recommend that you bring along a rod/reel setup and lures that are suitable for smallmouth bass fishing, so you could have a fallback option in case the lake trout fishing doesn't pan out.

Good to know as we were planning for a 3 to 4 hour canoe! I'm definitely going to get some baitprotek baits....

Im bringing a bass rod and fly rod for opeongo river! I'm also going to try jigging some bondy baits and white tubes. I have a castable fish finder which should help with locating the fish. Also, instead of the lead core im going to use deep tail dancers, I would try the lead core but im trying to keep weight down and I already have 3 rods, plus no lead core setup. Any expereince with these baits? I was planning on trolling the tail dancers as we canoe throut the middle of opeongo and east arm as its deep enough to not get snaged. I currently have a rainbow trout colour one that dives 30 feet but may get the larger size that dives 40 if you guys thinkk its worth it.

The est time required is due to the paddling distance by staying close to shore. If you have no wind, you could do it in 3-4 hours by cutting a straight line. Depending on which site you book on Annie Bay, you can shave off an hour if you are closer to the north end. Good luck and enjoy the trip.

Sorry, I don't have any experience using a Bondy Bait or Tail Dancer. It would be good to have some sort of lure that can go down 40-50 feet, imo.

Im going to try to use a 3 way swivel with a few ounces of weight for trolling.

Thanks for posting a follow up and kudos for the successful fishing! Could you please share the lure(s) used to catch the trout, as well as what depth they were caught at, if you don't mind? I caught my limit of Park lake trout back in June on EGB spoons at a (estimated) depth of between 40-50 feet in a relatively small lake, and am curious as to how that experience compares to yours.
