Adding a new thread for Shirley's Bay as there is usually quite a few people on here posting and sharing info over the winter season.

That said, the river is now frozen all the way across and looking at the long term forecast, I would be shocked if it's not ready to fish by Dec 21st latest. I did NOT VENTURE OUT on to the ice to test.... I Will check it out soon enough and post - Be smart and careful if you decided to check it --- and please post your findings.. :D

I was also in touch with the NCC again this year regarding the access point (the launch) to the river. They have already come and removed several boulders on both the east and west side of the launch providing 3 access points as opposed to the 1!! Bonus - Thank you NCC!!!

So I ventured out onto the ice at a 2 o'clock bearing, looking out from the launch.. there's a good 4 inches or more of solid ice right out to where the current line is -> Highlighted in the picture. I got to that currant line and punched a hole with my ice pic and the there was no more the 2 inches of ice. Needless to say, I did not go any further lol.

Use caution if you are going to go out and Dont go out too far - She's not ready

Was out tonight, got a 13 inch walleye a big perch and a few small ones between 330-5. Was checked by the mnr which was a first for me there, some guys I saw fishing got busted for fishing without a license. Going back out tomorrow evening hope to find some bigger walleye.

We usually get checked by the MNR at least once a season out there.

How much ice is out there now?
Thx, Tim.
