This trip has been a long time in the making. I had the pleasure of coming to Ottawa as a Diplomate from spring 2013 through the spring of 2016. The best tour I could have ever asked for. During that timeframe, in 2014, I convinced the wife to allow me to drag my boat up from Pennsylvania which then led to me living the remainder of our time there on the Ottawa River along with White Lake and a few other lakes and rivers in the region.

Fast forward to 2020 and after a three-year tour in Europe to Bratislava, Slovakia. I have now returned back in the States (Virginia) and am planning a trip back up to Ottawa in late July of this year (29 July through August 3rd).

With that, I am struggling to find a reasonably priced ($150 CAD or less) place for my buddy and me to stay. I am open to anywhere from Wendover all the way down to Big Rideau Lake all the way out to Arnprior/White Lake.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to one of many return trips to Ontario in the years to come.

My first question to you would be what types of fish you guys would be chasing? Are you looking for a lodge setting, or a hotel? I can offer a suggestion if you would be looking for a hotel. Mind you it's roughly 1.5 hours from downtown Ottawa, in a small town called Westport On. There is a large parking lot with lots of room to trailer your boat for the night. There is a launch 3 minutes from the hotel with minimal parking, but a hop from the hotel. You can "Lock" over to adjoining "Newboro L" which is a chain of lakes. You can also go East and "Lock" over to The Big Rideau. You would be launching on "The Upper Rideau" There is as well lakes within a 1/2 hour drive including Devil L, Wolfe L, and Sand L. Mainly bass and pike in the listed lakes, though Wolfe does have a decent walleye population, and The Upper Rideau has been stocked for many years now, and yet hard to find, when you do it's normally a dandy.

I personally definitely recommend this motel, for my wife and I have stayed there 12 times or more. Very clean, and a quick walk to the launch. Here is a link, and hope this helps on your trip! http://westportstationmotel.com/rates.htm
