Birthday Muskie

Remember that thread earlier this year where we all stated our fishing goals for the season? Two of my goals were "making more time to fish" and "catching my 1st (tiger)muskie".

The 1st goal was met, as I've spent more time on the water this year. And today, on my 39th birthday, I met the 2nd goal: my 1st muskie!! This fish may not be a purebred 'lunge, and it certainly isn't a trophy, but I will never forget this special fish on this fantastic day. It was caught on a red & white aglia long blade spinner. My husband & kids were cheering me on. After a short, but exciting fight and 2 quick pic's, he was released with attitude. I'm still smiling. What a b'day gift. :D

Here's a pic of Otisco Lake. It's quite pretty and today it seemed especially so, despite the usual annoyances of party animal jet skiiers and ski boats.

Someone just caught a 45" tiger muskie out of Otisco on Sept 1st. There was a pic of it in the marina shop: HUGE. Mine could have been lunch for that one, but I think I've caught muskie fever today, regardless!

'Night all.

What a great B-Day gift. I love the marks on those tigers I can't wait to get one myself. With the great population of both Pike and Muskie in the Ottawa you would think they would be a common catch. Anyone out there see any Tigers around here.

Thanks, everyone. :D Yeah, it was one of my happiest birthdays since I was a kid. Before we got to the lake yesterday, I had a feeling I might get my first tiger on my birthday. But I repressed it, for fear of jinxing the outcome (I'm a tad bit superstitious, you could say)!

About a 1/2 hour before I got that one, I had a tremendous hit and a real weighty fish on. It immediately made my drag scream, which I had checked and set earlier. It was not loose. I gave the best hookset I could, but the fish was only on a few seconds and was gone. The pole was bent good. It was something sizeable, but now I'll never know if it was a Big Bertha Bass or a much better muskie. Still, made for some building excitement...!

Thx again for your well wishes and supportive excitement over a not-so-big muskie, but an oh-so-special one.

Happy Birthday Wolfe! Now you need a double digit Walleye. I hear there's openings for the Quinte weekend in October. Hint hint, nudge nudge.
