Has anyone seen ice at Shirley's Bay yet? I will have to do a drive by. I'm hoping to hit 4" over the next couple of days, but I'm not sure if it started yet. I was on a stocked trout pond south of Calabogie last Wednesday. I didn't stay long, didn't go more than a couple of feet from shore and no more than three feet deep, but there was 3" of ice. Of course I didn't catch anything either!

I hope it stays cold and I will be walking on water by Christmas. It's true I'm a long haired carpenter who was born on Christmas day and likes fishing, but I can't walk on it until it freezes up first :D

Wow, I was quite surprised to see the bay frozen all the way out to the main channel. Thought I was going to see a bit of ice by the shore and a whole lot of water! Pretty much on the exact same pace as last season... The up coming forecast looks great as well. Cold and no snow!

I was at Sherleys bay checking it out last week and it was all open water. Glad to see it’s freezing up with these temps!! Can’t be too thick just based off being open a week ago though? Last week I drove by Constance Lake as well and it was frozen right across.

Reports yesterday was 5 inches on Constance Lake. I just got down from my tree stand after a morning hunt. I assure you it's making ice

Have a great season folks! I'll be in a tree stand until Jan 1.

In the afternoon I went to Clayton to check the ice and to try fishing if it would be safe. The ice was surprisingly quite good, 6.5" thickness of smooth and solid black ice 100m from the shore near the Joe Baye trail. There were two ice huts already installed and a bunch other fishermen on ATVs.

Fishing was slow, I was trying to find bluegills or jumbo perch but caught only 6 small perch but overall I had a good time. Not sure about the ice conditions during the next few days with higher temperatures but hoping it won't stay too long.

I was at Shirley's Bay today. There was one hut out this morning already. The ice was pretty good, mostly clear black ice 6" thick. I tried out my new camera. I watched several perch take the bait. One really nice walleye rolled right past the lense but didn't stop to eat. Still, it was great to be back on the ice.

P.s. bring ice Trax or skates, it's slick.
