New anlger here. Need help with swimbaits and jigs
Can you use regular ball jig for swimbaits when fishing for pike? or do you have to use a swimbait jig?

You could use a straight worm hook and split shot if that's what conditions require
Just make sure the hook is big enough---some of those ball jigs have smallish hooks

If you are using a ball head, ensure that it has a good hook. A lot of the manufacturers use a cheap hook. Pike will straighten them out and break your heart.

Gotta go with Ed on this one. Don't cheap out, it's only a few bucks more and you won't lose a potential giant. IMO "Ball heads" would be fine, just with a "Swim bait" head it helps the bait glide more natural, and you get better quality.
Best of luck!!!!

I'd go with a swimbait hook. The weight is under the bait and it will ride smoother versus the nose heavy ball head jig. Like the fellas said, get a quality hook.
