Hey all,

Long time lurker here. I live in Cantley, QC and have been a (bad) fisherman most of my life. I have been looking for a long while to catch a speckled or rainbow trout, but I've never had any luck.

I would appreciate any tips any of you might have about these species in the Outaouais area. I'm a solo, catch and release fisherman, trim my hooks, and usually fish from shore or my little sportspal canoe.

Thanks so much!

I'm talking like 30 years back at least but we used to drive up that way past Cantley and fish a creek for Brookies. You could access it off a couple of side roads and one spot off the highway through some bush. Just a hook and worm or small single blade spinner and worm. Took me while to find it on the map again but I could send you a pm and a map with a couple spots marked. I have no idea if there are any in there anymore, I'm thinking it may have been stocked back then but I don't remember for sure.
As for fishing in smaller lakes, my favorite method is to drag small gang trolls like 12 to 18" long with a 8 to12" leader with a small treble and a worm. Depth of running depended on amount of rubber core sinkers added.

Cheers

Thanks for the tips folks!

I'll definitely get my hands on an mnr stocking list. Had no idea a lake like st pierre would have brookies!

@smitty, I would love to know where this Creek is, I'd be happy to report back to you if it still holds life.

Cheers!

Do you know how to access the lists in Quebec? Are they online like in Ontario or do you have to request them?

Thanks!
