Charleston Lake

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Based on the time of year, I was going to guess it is to help protect the bass populations. Looks like the new regulations are there to allow them to research the affects of preseason bass fishing and fishing for nesting bass. Charleston Lake and Opinicon Lake both have new regulations for the 2024 and 2025 seasons.

Overfishing or declining populations of specific species might necessitate temporary or permanent closures to allow recovery.

I recall seeing an article about that last summer. It has something to do with bass studies that are going on from Carleton U I believe.
