Lake Ontario Salmon Action!!!

Well I finally got started salmon fishing July 1st and have been out several times since then. The salmon bite on the North shore of Lake Ontario started a couple weeks early this year and has been good throughout June and early July.

My standard setup is 2 downriggers, 2 dipsey divers and 2 weighted lines on planer boards. If I run more lines I add 2 more weighed lines (leadcore, weighted steel or copper). For baits I normally start with 2 flashers with "meat" rigs, 1 flasher/fly combo and 3 spoons and change up as I figure out what the first want.

For the first week of July the morning bite, 5 to 7 am, was hot anywhere from 75 feet of water to 120 feet of water, with most fish down 40 to 60 feet.

The weather the last few days has pushed warm water in closer to shore, temperatures of 60 degrees F down 100 feet, so the fish are probably on the move to cooler waters.... back out on Lake O Saturday and Sunday.... so I guess I will see if I can find where the fish are hiding. :D

Here are a few pictures from last week.

I am fully booked for July for salmon charters but I do have a few dates available in August and early September if anyone wants to get out for some Lake Ontario action.
