Northern Lights

I got a call from Xenos last night to check out the Northern Lights. At first I thought he was kidding, I've only seen them from North of Lake Superior. But when I checked there they were. What an awsome display. Anybody else catch them?

Yes, what an awsome show indeed. I have not seen a shoe like that in over 20 years since I was a young lad living in Edmonton.
I was outside at 7:50 and looked straight up and it was like there was a curtain covering the entire sky. From 7:45 to 8:00 it was amazing and very bright.
One of the benifits of living 10 miles out of town.

Kingmann you beat me to the punch. That was probably one of the best displays I've seen Mother Nature put on. They peaked around 8:15 and then agin around 11:15. They were still going strong around 1:00. It was incredible. Got some pictures of them. If they worked out I will try and post them.

You should have seen them at 01:00 I started to see some colours. They went pink for a bit. it was the best I have ever seen them

it is a great display of the wunders of mothernature. I have seen it ten times as bright when i lived up in Labrador but it is still great to see them here.

Yeah I caught them @ 1:15 AM (was up painting last night) and they were awesome. That was the first time my wife has seen them before. Very cool stuff.

yyup, really nice.
I saw em like that up in the NWT a few years ago, but last night was pretty close!

It's not often that we get to see them this far South. The last time for me was about 20 years ago. Last night was not the brightest display here, it was just a pinkish glow similar to city lights. Film and tape cannot capture the hues seen in person at Northern latitudes. I wonder what conditions allowed for such a widely seen event so far South?

I just heard on the radio that we may be blessed with more of a show tonight (they are calling for clear skies) and tomorrow (calling for clouds).
I think I'll keep the kids up to check it out.

There's the odd benefit to working 12 hour shifts. Last night was indeed one of them
2nd nicest display I've ever seen of them
The first was on a Quebec fishing trip one Spring. No city lights to take away from the display. What a sight!

Only saw a dull glow one year while camping in Algonquin Park. I would love, love, LOVE to see this natural phenomenon one day. Lucky you, folks!
Would it be hard to get a picture, being it's night? Just wondering... perhaps you'd need special equipment.

Wife, Kids and I caught them last night while we were talking a walk. I haven't seen them in about 10 years. The last time I can remember seeing them was while doing some bull head fishing on White lake.
