I have used a planer board for getting my crankbaits out further in currents when fishing from shore, with some success and was wondering if anyone else has tried this and your experiences.
The west coast company makes one specifically for shore fishing currents. It's a small collapsible deal that will easily take out your lure in the current. I've used mine successfully in the past to take chinook in holding pools using kwikfish and the drop back technique. With a lure constantly wobbling in their face, aggravation takes over and voila. I'm sure that it would work for other fish as well.
