Bassmaster TV - Way to Go we did it!

Nothing helps push the winter months along like watching fishing shows on those early weekend mornings when we would normally be on the boat fishing and our fishing withdrawal is at its very worst.

I spotted this on another fishing chat site and thought it was a great idea and so I thought I would bring the idea here for some support also. I personally would love to be able to watch these guys and gals fish if I could... I used to be able to using US sat TV but that is a thing of the past now... but being able to get it on normal Rogers cable now that would be cool. 8)

So you want BASSMASTER on TV?

Several long weels ago someone asked when was Bassmaster coming back on TV. I said I would get back once the Executive had some relevant information. Well we are making progress and now we need your assistance to push it through its last steps. Why not start a Petition to TSN.

This is an excerpt of an email conversation with ESPN/BASS I had today. It was what we were waiting for...

"ESPN licenses all of its programming to TSN and TSN airs the shows that it believes its viewers want. If you guys were "beating down their doors" with requests to have BASS programming aired - then it may be aired. We are working with TSN and Wild TV to try to resolve this issue - but it complex."

Please go to this link email them through their form and ask for BASS. I would also like to ask, for those that can, please consider using the old method of Canada Post and send in a short note requesting that BASS become part of their programming.

Hey its winter, cabin fever may hit all of us real soon and there's no hockey on tv so please help and petition TSN directly. Tell them what the viewers want. What you want.

Seasons Greetings and Thank you kindly

Go Hawkers!

Hi Seaweed
I will email them. Yes Bassmasters would be worth watching again on T.V. So would Infisherman, Ron Linder’s Angling adventures, Babe Winkleman etc, basically any American TV show. I would also welcome some Brit fishing shows if they were on BBC. I personally despise Canadian fishing shows! I got Rogers digital TV with 800 channels and still nothing on!

I would definately watch. I've made about 6 new friends this summer and they are some of the top money earers in the circut...I'd love to watch and follow their tournament success.

I also will be fishing one of the pro-ams this year. Myself and Mr Larry Jones are going to team up. We are just reviewing the tour schedule and in the process of selecting a tourny. I can't wait!

No such thing as too many fishing shows during the hard water season. Heck, I'll even watch the dimestore fellas, just for the scenary if nothing else.

I have often wondered why fishing is so popular in the US, and why we get fed so little of it.

Your right Spanky..I used to tape all the sat morning fishing shows, and then watch them when I came back from fishing
I had about a dozen tapes to watch when the winter months came...somehow the misses found them, and now they are full of the Young and Restless....eeeeeeeeegawd.

Markus- you might want to check the BASS rules. If you enter a Pro-Am it is a draw system (unless they have changed the rules, which I really doubt). You don't enter as a team.

You might end up fishing with Larry- about 1 in 150 odds, though.

He never mentioned that CCB. I've got a call into today. When he rings me back, I'll ask the question.

No problem Charles.

The more we promote this the better chance we have of actually getting it on cable.

This actually worked for Nascar fans a few years back. We now get every race... on normal cable .... or they hear about it.

CCB, you're right. We won't be able to fish together if we enter together. That sucks. But larry suggested we could just do one of the invitational tournies on Okachobee if we wanted too.

What would you do? I think i'd like to spend the day with a pal. I think my limited bassing experience would be a burden to someone.

Since TNN changed to Spike TV, I have missed all the great outdoor and fishing shows they carried. As a tournament angler I would love to see it back on the air as well as all the other shows no longer on canadian TV.
Seaweed, I have already sent my email and thanks for the info.

Markus- If you're talking about one of the 1-day Bassmaster series (FLA division) tournaments on Okeechobee, don't be afraid to enter as a non-boater just for the experience.

These are one day events for weekend anglers, not the major events with the "big guns" like Brauer, VanDam, Klein and the rest. Similar to many Ontario events, but with a draw format.

You might well end up out-fishing your boater from the back of the boat!

If you can spend some time on the water pre-fishing with Larry before the tournament, you'll get an idea of what you'll be faced with. The Big O is not like any Ontario waters.

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE ONTARIO BASS FEDERATION MR. KEN HAMILTON

Dear Anglers, Chapters, Presidents, members...

its a start! we're getting B.A.S.S. Tournament Trail, to air on TSN. Specifics will follow once I have them from TSN and ESPN/BASS. I have been smiling from ear to ear all day. Please continue to email, write and or send in your requests to TSN that you want more BASS fishing on T.V.

I'm still positive that maybe TSN will realize that they should air the same model format that ESPN2 is currently using on Saturday mornings. from 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Please go to this link below and email TSN AND pester them for even more BASS programming. I would also like to ask, for those that can, please consider using the old method of Canada Post and send in a short note requesting that BASS become part of their fulltime programming.
