Licenses At Petrie Bait Shop??

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Licenses At Petrie Bait Shop??

Post by JustinHoffman »

Hello All,
Thinking about taking my girlfriend out this Monday for a day on the ice at Petrie. Now, she has her Outdoors Card, but will need a new sticker. Doe anyone know if you can pick these up at Petrie Island at the Bait Shop? Also, just to confirm, does the shop open at 9am during the week?
Thanks in advance for your help...
Good Fishing,
Justin Hoffman

P.S. Have only been to Petrie once - about a week ago. Did fairly well in Crappie Bay, catching a 3lb walleye, losing a bunch of pike, landing a largemouth and a couple of crappies. I'd like to get the girlfriend into a few fish - would you guys recommend Crappie Bay, or would Walleye Bay provide more action? Any feelings on this?

Justin, you can buy the license stickers at the bait shop down there. And I'd suggest Crappie Bay personally. Lotsa pike there in the shallow areas if you can get your hands on big sucker minnows.

crappie bay is producing fish , but has been really pressured since christmas. i suggest taking a hike and locating some new drop-offs or structure there is so much water and so many people concentrating over one spot has gotta have impact on those fish. thats my 2 cents , i was there today and was amazed i could not hit a school of crappie, even the pike fishing was slow which is unusual.
