Parental Leave - Highly recomment it!

Hi All,

I just got back to work this week after 3 months of parental leave. I haven't been visiting the board much during this time so I have lots of catching up to do.

I just want to say to all you fathers to be out there, be it now or in a few years, to seriousily consider to take parental leave. I had so much fun spending more time with my daughter. I am glad I did it. I didn't have time for much else but my daughter and have a good relationship (even though she is just 1 year old) and hopefully this will remain for years and years.

This option was not available till recently (probably earlier 90s) and the previous generation of fathers to me, a lot have said they would have done it if it was an option. So I am posting to the fathers to be to consider taking parental leave. You won't regret it.

Just a side note, if you think being at home will give you more fishing time you are dead wrong. You will need a very understanding wife to get out for time to time.

Cheers,

Mike

Sad part is, the women know a good thing when they see it! My wife would've took the whole time :!: :(

But you're right, everyone I know who's taken it, has thoroughly enjoyed it for the reason you mentined. It's an opportunity that shouldn't be passed up.

That is, if you can work it out with the Mrs :!:

I can vouch for that, Mike! :?

I think it's great that you arranged for this commitment of time to your daughter. She'll be a better person for it. Way to go, DAD! :D

There's a great song out called "Mr. Mom" by a country band named Lonestar. It's hysterical.

Afternoon nap time was my favorite. I like my beauty rest.

Probassing, now the only hard part about getting back into the working world is getting the kids songs out of your head. The sickly, haunting chants of Barney, the Wiggles, and the others are the hardest thing to shake.

Congrats Dad! :D

The only good news is the songs are easy to play on guitar and a big hit at kids parties.

The only problem is Probassing keeps playing peek-a-boo in meetings. It is kind of distracting. I have also noticed he wants an afternoon nap!!!

Good to have you back at work Mike.

Being 100% honest, WIG, I always LOATHED that dufous dinosaur. Ty hated him, too, but Shane seems to think he's the cat's meow.

For the record, my house is a Barney free envirnoment.

Sportsnet and Sportcenter was on from 8 am to 12 pm, followed by OTR and then some pool or darts for the afternoon. In the last couple of weeks, golf has been the Thursday and Friday afternoon favorite. I am raising the Next Jody Vance.
