Hey J.P
I was told you are no longer allowed to fish in the Gatineau park. I have been doing some x-country sking and have discovered some nice lakes in the park....Charles and Taylor. From the looks of the shoreline, with small rock faces jutting out of the water , these lakes look like they have excellent structure. If I am wrong and fishing is allowed in the park, I would like to hike into them with a belly boat.
Could these lakes hold trout as well as bass....
BY THE WAY, WHY DO MY QUESTION MARKS ON THIS MESSAGE BOARD COME UP LIKE THIS é, WHEN MY KEYBOARD IS NOT DEFAULTING TO FRENCH

The belly boat is the way to go, no motors allowed except in la peche
reL trout ... There is a small lake (can't recall the name - maybe kingsmere) with a boat house . In that boat house there a pictures of trout from days gone by in that lake.

My girlfriends grandparents have a cottage on Meech Lake...Beautiful spot! Never fished it though. Is there some nice Smallies in there? If so I may have to hit it up a few times this summer. Such a nice place to just sit in a canoe and paddle around. Not much traffic to say the least!!!

U can fish in Meech lake as long as u have a quebec lisence. The issue is that there is no public boat launch and if u are not a resident of the lake u are only allowed a 9.9 on it. Believe me, they do enforce it

. All u need on the lake is a canoe or rowboat with an electric and u will be into some of the best smallmouth action of your life. That lake has some huge fish because there is very limitted access. If u can find a piece of public shore line (not so easy to find) u can do very well. A couple of years ago I was there at a friends cottage and landed 20 bass over 3lbs in a day and 1 5lber just casting from the dock.
Good luck

Hi, I know Meech Lake very well as I have fished it for years. Excellent for fall fishing. All you need is a Quebec fishing licence. The only way for you to access it is by the canoe launch. You can use a small aluminum boat as long as you can lift it from your car or trailer and put it in the lake. I have talked to several game wardens and they said there is no restrictions fishing the lake as long as you can lift your boat into the lake at the canoe lauch because there is no lauch area for boats.

fishing is allowed from the park's website :

I fished there on my 16 ft caone, I think I spent most of my time canoeing rather than fishing.
It's a perfect lake for swimming, kayaking and canoeing, just don't feel right fishing there . heard there is a nude beach but was never able to find it
