I was just wondering if any one has heard of replacing the treble hooks on there spoons with red treble hooks when trolling for lakers(or whatever)?? I have heard this can add a good effect too your presentation too mimick an injured bait fish. I was thinking of trying this on some of my NK28 and Wablers.

BigFish,
Yeppers adding a red hook has seemed to increase strikes and hookups.
I have replaced several of my jigging spoons with red hooks and a whole lot of my crankbaits with red hooks.

They're certainly popular. At least a couple companies are making them with red hooks on their product

Not just on spoons but i have been changing all the hooks on my baits to Excalibur tx3 rotating trebel hooks . Extremely sharp, 3-sided cutting point (Tx3), actually sets intself on contact.

Big Fish, I ALWAYS replace trebels on all spoons, NK's, MAG's, RAC, stingers etc not with other trebles but with Siwash singles.
Now if I could find red Siwash, that would be nice.

Hey CD,
when you replace with a single hook, what's the best size you find? Or are they different for all of them. I'm thinking specifically for the NK's and the RAC's?
Thanks,
WIG

i think the new Blue Fox Matrixx Trolling Spoons look great, and they have both the single siwash red hook and red treble.

Fritts designed some new Sure Set trebles for crankbaits, I bet these would work well on minnow rigs but I'm sure about spoons. Their kind of a built in trailer hook for a treble.
I think every hook manufacturer now offers most of their hook lines in red.

For nk's & RAC's,Gamakatsu Round Bend Trebles are tough to beat.
Good,strong,& very sharp.
They'll hold up to numerous Nook's.
Good replacement on Reef Runners aswell.
