This is a none fishing related Thread….But I posted here because I believe it’s important to us all



I would like all of us here on Fish-Hawk. Net …to take a few minutes to think of the four brave Members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police who gave their lives in the performance of their Duty ! My thoughts and payers go out to their Families, and friends.
Salmon….Simon I’m so sad that you lost four of your comrades in arms, words cannot express my sorrow in hearing about this most tragic loss . These four officers are truly CANADIAN heroes, as are all the members of all police forces across Canada and the U.S. , who every day put their lives, on the line for us . With a heavy heart, my hat is off to you and all officers of the LAW... at this, one of the saddest days in Canadian history

It was a terrible thing that should not have happened. My thoughts and prayers are with the families, friends and collegues.

It truely is a sad day for Law Enforcment everywere. Be safe lads!

I have many friends who are police officers and some of them are out west. I couldn't help but think of them immediately.

These are brave men and women and we owe them. They do a very big part in giving us a way of life like no other place on earth. It is such a sad day when a tragedy of this magnitude happens.

I can remeber the devestation of a friend of mine...we played hockey together in Minor hockey. His father was a Mortorcycle Cop and was killed in the line of duty. I have never forgotten that and how hard it was for a son to lose a father that way. My heart goes out to the families in mourning at this sad time!

"Our country is hurting." - said by a mother of one of the RCMP officers.

When I heard it on the new last night I was devastated.

A follow up on the four officers


The four RCMP officers who were shot and killed in northwestern Alberta:

Const. Peter Christopher Schiemann, 25: He was born in Petrolia, Ont., and joined the RCMP in Stony Plain, Alta. He graduated from training on Nov. 27, 2000 and was posted in Mayerthorpe, Alta., where he worked in general policing and highway patrol.

Const. Lionide Nicholas Johnston, 32: He was born Lac La Biche, Alta., and that is where he joined the force. He graduated from training on April 17, 2001. In Mayerthorpe, he worked in both general and First Nations policing.

Const. Anthony Fitzgerald Orion Gordon, 28: He was born in Edmonton, Alta., and joined the RCMP in Red Deer, Alta. He graduated from training Oct. 15, 2002, and was posted to Whitecourt, Alta., where he worked in general policing and highway patrol.

Const. Brock Warren Myrol, 29: He was born in Outlook, Sask., and joined the RCMP in Red Deer, Alta. He graduated from training on Feb. 7, 2005, and was posted in Mayerthorpe where he worked in general policing.

A very sad day.

My thoughts and prayers go out to their families left behind and to those who served beside them. This was the worst tragedy in RCMP history since the 1880's.

As Legend stated this could have happened anywhere. Grows are in every type of neighbourhood.

Tragic news , I remember all the jokes flying around when the big Barrie Grow Op ( Molsons plant) was discovered , thankfully no physco on patrol then.
I have 4 members of my family on the force and I can't imagine how this effects them.
