Bass Pro Shops 2005 Spring Fishing Classic

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Bass Pro Shops 2005 Spring Fishing Classic

Post by peng »

Did you know that BPS is having a hugh spring sale. Sale dates are from March 12-20th with a moonlight madness sale Friday, March 18 (5-10pm). They also have a "Reel Trade-In' sale where you can trade in your old reels and save $100 on the purchase of a new on (old reels are donated to local youth organizations) along with free seminars March 18-20 by Al Patton, Dave Mercer, Mike Desforges just to name a few.

Good way to spend part of March break while waiting for the water to soften up!

Don't forget our local stores Bait Casters and Paddletales will also have spring sales and will have booths at the Carp Spring Fishing show.

Lets support stores that support Fish-Hawk.net

Can't agree with you more! Great deals to be had and no tax! I heard that BPS is quite the place to see. No cost to browse. :D

Just for the sake of clarification- in order to get a $100. trade-in on a reel, the new reel has to have a price of $500. and over.

I agree that you can't do better than to hit Paddletales and Baitcasters, and save the expense of the trip to Vaughn.

If you live in Toronto, though- go for it!

Ahhh the fineprint... it just goes to show there's no such thing as a free meal. A good ploy to get people in the store.

Hello all, while I cannot say that I'm excited with a post that promotes vendors outside of those that support Fish-Hawk.Net, this one is OK as no rules have been broken. In the past we did frown on this, however with the new rules in place as discussed last year, the poster is offering information only to those that may be able to take advantage of it and is not in anyway associated with or will benefit from this type of promotion. If there are those in the area of the BPS, then by all means, take advantage of it. For those not in the area, we still encourage them to shop locally at those stores that help Fish-Hawk.Net be a reality. We appreciate their support and if you enjoy this site and the community that represents it, help us by helping them.

Appreciated,

Hello All,
Good to see this thread is back on the board - wondered where it had disappeared to this morning. Yes, BPS is having a sale, and yes, it coincides with the Toronto Sportsman Show.
I think this post by Peng was very valid. For one thing, many of us do not only live in Ottawa. Many of us also travel to the Toronto area, either through work or because of family. For that matter, it is a good "heads ups."
I was recently at BPS. For those looking for an experience, I recommend everyone visit it at least once. From the wide range of camping, fishing, hunting and marine stuff, to the enormous aquarium stocked with fish, this place is certainly a sight to see.
I for one like to shop different places. Some stores have items that others don't, some carry product lines that the next guy doesn't. I guess we all have a choice where we want to spend our money.
We all know the affiliation that Paddletales and Baitcasters have with this site. It's great, and we should be proud. They have their own great forums on here, and always post useful things. For those that support them - great stuff. If you choose to head to BPS - that's fine also. It sometimes feels that we are made to believe that we "must" only shop at these two advertisers, or else we're not really part of the board. Kinda like how every response to Peng stated - "support the local advertisers."
Don't get me wrong - advertisers and support is needed to make a site like this grow and establish itself. But, if we choose to head down to BPS for a change of pace, or over to WallyWorld, there should be nothing wrong with that.
And Seaweed - I disagree about no deals at BPS. The last time I was there I picked up incredible deals, especially on rods and reels. You have to do a bit of searching, but there are sales to be had.
Now, you're not going to save any money driving down for 5 hours, but if you're in the area, you just might strike it rich..
Just my 2 cents worth..
Good Fishing,
Justin

I would like to go as well. In fact, my wife wants me to buy a BPS.

Go figure. Wouldn't that be nice. I could pile all the plastics on the floor and just roll around in them like a big 2 year old.

Thanks for the support. The posting was never intended to take away anything from our local merchants. I have been fishing for over 14 years and 99% of my equipment and tackle comes from local merchants. In fact, I will be visiting one of them this afternoon. :)
