Just curious how people are feeling in regards to the price of gas and, how will it affect decisions on where you want to fish this upcoming season?

Will it reduce your planned number of trips, say to like, Quinte, Port Hope etc?

It will very soon, if it isn't already, become a real concern for a lot of people I'm sure!

I gassed up today at 89.9 .... brutal price for sure.

Good thing I tanked up though.... I came back to work this afternoon to a pink slip.

I am on the job hunt as of today.... that might cramp my style a bit for the distance I take the boat to... on the up note... it might allow some more fishing if I don't hook up another new job soon.

Gotta try to find the silver lining....

Six year contract got canned today... it was a sweet job too.

Oh well.

Well i wont be driving till september, but im sure at times it can be brutal for my parents. I go to one cottage and stay up there for a week or 2, than go home for 2 days, than back up for a long time,. So at least its not driving everyday

ouch....just got off a 6 month stint with EI. I feel for ya Seaweed.

The current gas prices are certainly a factor! As we both live in Kanata, and we are living thru the 84 -87 cents a litre blitz at the moment, I have no faith that the price will lower as it did just after Christmas, for the Summer Season. Pardon my foul language, but the gas folks have us by the "short ones".

I have to admit that fishing trips will be limited at my place to Renfrew and Lanark County, and especially those within 100 kms. No company gas card here to "top up with" as some folks like to boast about.

sorry to hear about your pink slip. I was on E.I for a while two summers ago. very stressfull, but I was able to do a lot of fishing. Today, it's probably one of the est things that has happened to me. I attended a job finders club for 4 weeks, it was really helpfull in guiding me in the right direction. Anyway, back to fishing. One way to beat the high prices for fishing trips is car pooling and each put in some gas money. I've done that quite a few times.

Sorry to hear that Seaweed, look for the silver lining, it's there. Most of the guys I fish with are docked in the marina, no jerry cans! Price last year was a buck a litre, I'm guessing $1.25 + a litre this year, that hurts! Never know though the Blue Mist might draw a bigger crowd this year, she'll troll for an hour on a half litre of deisel, and when the wind is right she can be even cheaper! Kidding aside I think it's gonna hurt!

This year was pretty well booked up from the get-go anyway. Except for a spring and fall weekend and some camping trips we'll pretty much be sticking to day trips within 2hrs of home.

I've found that you really notice the price increase with a boat, ...unless you use it all year, there's a 4 or 5 month gap when you don't fill your tank, I've found that from year to year the average cost to fill it jumps about $2.00 to $3.00. When I got my old boat $10.00 would fill it, ...the last year I used it, the price was up around $18.00. My new boat, ....don't want to think about it. Several years ago, I picked up a couple of used tanks at yard sales etc, ...when the price was down, I'd fill them all up and hoped the price would drop again before they were all empty.

Filling them all at once though, makes you cringe, even if you know you're "saving" money in the long run.
Guess I might do more drifting than trolling this year to help....

I don't know how tournament guys can do it.......gas fees will cost more than tournament entry fees!...

The price sucks , even though the mini van is good on gas, I may have to rethink the trip to southern ohio this year to see the kid.


She tells me there is over 2 buck a gallon ....... still cheaper than here .... but

I have a small 4 stroke kicker for trolling,fished Quinte for 3 days before the gas gauge moved ,I'm glad I no longer have to fill a 22fter with 80 gallons roughrider.

68 liter tank x $.85/ liter = $57.80.

I'll find the money somewhere, but my kids may have to down drag from high end Kraft Dinner, to Presidents Choice brand.

Seaweed, that sucks.
