Hey everyone,
I need a hitch and a trailer for my 14' aluminum boat. I went to Canadian Tire today and they have the mount for the hitch, $150. Then I need the hitch ball. They also have a "Marine Kit" Trailer on their website, $119. It says it's for personal watercraft and small boats, but it looks super tiny. Any suggestions of where to look? what to buy? Any suggestions are helpful.
P.S. I am attaching the hitch to my 97 Z24.

U-haul was quick and cheap and they were very reasonably priced!! A few years ago anyways!

I'm looking for a permenant hitch so i can tow the boat all summer. Is that what you mean with U-Haul? I just thought they did rentals?

You should be able to find a good used boat trailer for a 14 footer for a couple hundred bucks. keep watching the trader and other want ads.
I had one of those CT trailers not bad, but there not for boats even with the kit still to small. Real boat trailer will make life easier and cheaper in the long run.

Yup, U-Haul did a few hitches for me and I found them cheaper then CT. Get their price before getting it done.

Oh and anything more about trailers? a buddy of mine has been saying that it's tough to find a trailer

Those trailers at CT are crap! they sell them to fit small water craft and boat's up to 14 ft. However, upon my purchase, the manufactures recomendation was nothing over 12 ft in lenght...It was a POS anyway, save your money, get a real trailer.

Yes my U-haul hitch is permanent and have never had any problems with them!!

As far as i know they are still on conventry road which is where I got mine done!

Another good spot, close to Kanata is across from the fire hall in Stittsville. I think it is called Stittsville Trailer. They are quick, reasonable and convenient. I got my hitch done there two years ago, and recall a good experience.

My preference is to steer clear of CT for any automotive related service....but I had a bad experience there, with a mechanic probing my electric wires and not re-sealing the areas where he/she probed...had to replace the harness, wires and boot.

My Sante Fe is only 1 year old and I really don't want to compromise anything so I had mine done at the dealership. Sure I paid a bit more but these guys can be held way more accountable than some otheplaces. So it is not always just about price.

alrighty, just to update everyone, i'm going to go to stittsville trailer and auto today, and i'm most likely going to get it done there because of location and good feedback. ALSO I might be in better shape about the trailer situation then i thought. The original trailer i have for the boat might be more repairable then i thought. The arm (the part that locks onto the hitch.. for lack of a better description) is bent. I'm hoping that it can be straightened out without sacrificing the structure of it... and risking losing the boat on the highway. I hope that can be fixed because it will be a great deal more convenient. As a major plus, i think Stittsville Trailer can do it there too. SO I'll get back to everyone and let you's know how it turned out, and maybe this will help someone else too.
