Paya, is the carpin' any good out that way?

I've been trying to find a decent spot where I could give them a fair shake. The only place I have seen them on the Ottawa in Rockland, you need a boat. And I undertand boat fishing for carp is tricky at best.

thanks

Paya i drove over the 417 bridge last night and it was still ice covered with standing water in the edges... i'm not sure how open it is down in casselman itself but i suspect there's still ice there too.

carp fishing is good everywhere .I went to Nation last year several times and I liked there .It's still to early ..but I was hoping to get my line wet and spend a day on fresh air :))

John ..would you know if I have any other options beside nation at this time ? :)))

HI paya

THERE is still a lot off ice in caselman on the nation,,,,,,,,,,and like john said a lot off water over the ice on the side.......

But for carp your best bet is down the dam,,,,,,,,,,,actaly when there spiling over the dam and a lot off time there some uge carp ,,,there are stuck in some hole in the rock formation below the dam,,,,,,,,

I did not went to see down the dam itself,,,,,,,,,but i do think its to urly,,,,and by the way there some good carp fishing in chrysler(about 20 min frome caselman) to ......just by the dam,,,,,,,,,,is fun to whatch,,,,,,,,they think they are salmon,,,,they try to go up the dams ,,,they jump,,,they swin on ciment and all very nice to look at,,,,,,,

good luck finding a place to fish by the shore now,,,,,, there nere hull on victoria island,,,its open water there and in gatineau,,,,,,,,there must be some place,,,,,,,,,,,,but still a lot off ice,,,,,,,,,

good luck

Whene is gone to be a good time for carp...............just go at petrie island
right in front off the little store ,,,,,,,,there is so mutch carp there its  ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,there a bay there wit not mutch water,,,,,just put a worm or floatfishing or anything to have fun,,,,,,,,i think its THE place to go whene the time is right,,,,,,,,,,,,

BUt caselman and chrysler the view is a lot lot better,,,,,,,,,,,so nice over there,,,,,,,

And if you want to try for carp,,,,,,,down town, the rideau is good not to far frome the carleton university,or under bronson bridge,,,,,,,

and if you want to try on quebec side,,,,,,,,,,go on boul,,,fournier there a little creek that go down to the ottawa river ,just under that little bridge,,,,there some uge one there to,,,,,,,,,

They are almost all over the place i think,,,,,,,,,,

I just got back from Casselman and I wouldn't go on that ice.

The shores from Embrun to Casselman don't have ice for about 5 feet and there are open stress cracks in the middle.

As you drive into Casselman it's open water from the bridge to the falls. It looks like there's ice but I wouldn't touch it.

I didn't go as far as where you'd normally go fishing (I should have though) but if you do go better have a float suit.

Keep in mind that there's current there so ice conditions will get worse by the weekend with the rain and continuing warm weather.

I have never fished for Carp before and I was wondering what the season is on them in the Ottawa area?

In the near future I'll be going up hopefully. I'll let you know if ever you want to join us.
