Hi, Everyone.

Now that it's officially trout season here, Tiny Torpedo and I have been discussing the different kinds of trout and what they look like. Ty loves brook trout and browns, but I tend to mix them up.

For instance, Floatfishin', that awesome pic of the bright orange-bellied trout you caught....wasn't that a brown? I can't remember.

Anyway, if anyone has any good close-up pic's of trout, would you be kind enough to post them here in this thread? Ty would love to look at some pic's. Please let us know what kind they are, as we are greenhorns. At least I am! At 7-1/2 yrs. of age, Ty knows EVERYTHING.

Technically brook trout is not really trout but char. Brown trout however
is true trout. For trout it is light background - darker spots, and for char
it is darker background - lighter spots.

A very colorfull Brown trout, and could be mistaken with a Speck or Brook and also can be extremely colorfull aswell.

A Rainbow(Steelhead)trout This is a female and they tend to stay more silver than the male Rainbow's do.

This is a recent male trout in Spawning colors, but some do tend to hold this color all year long, it depends on water and diet.

Hope these are a few to help ya's out :D

Here's one a brookie (speckle) from Negan Lake, near Jan Lake, Sask where I do the majority of my fishing back home. This particular lake is my fav brookie hole cuz I usually have some sucess there; and the trout from it are the most colourful I've seen anywhere. In addition to very prominent standard brookie colourings, they have a distinct ruby tint (which of course doesn't really show up in the pic):

Thx for the photo's and tips, guys. I appreciate it. I can really see the difference between the browns and brookies when comparing the pic's. Those are some great pictures -- what beautiful fish.

So rainbows and steelhead trout are the same? I always thought steelhead were a kind of salmon. Shows you what I know! And brookies get larger than I figured, as well.

If anyone has any more photo's, please feel free to post them. Tyler will really enjoy looking through these tomorrow. :D

Thx, again.

Beautiful pics guys. Wish I had some to share myself, certainly don't have anything to compare to those beauties. Great to see. :)
