Hello everyone,
Well thats it, I just mail ordered my Ny state fishing liscence. As far as trout goes, its not too hard to find streams with brookies in it. And when I felt like fishing different group, I would go to papineau labelle. But seeing the price of the us liscence (40$us) I thought why not, its probably what it cost me to go to papineau labelle and instead of being for one day, its a year long thing...
The only thing, is that I have no experience at all with that area. I'm talking here about the st-lawrence county. The DEC website has many usefull info on stockings and all, but this info can only go so far.
So I've got a few questions for you guys :
-I'm thinking of driving around 1h30 to get there, what a good place to start with? Littleriver in Canton? I think the Oswegatchie River is not too far away either?
-Secondly, what do thoses rivers look like, wadebale?
-Thirdly, what flies should I make sure to tie before my first adventure next week?
thx,
P-O

P-0,
Here's a link to the NY DEC Region 6 Trout fishing page that should provide you with a lot of the info you're looking for. There are also a number of good rivers/creeks in Region 5.
As for wadeable water, with the exception of the sever weather we've been having, it should all be wadeable once the levels have returned to normal.

If you can find it I would also suggest picking up a copy of the New York Atlas and Gazetteer (New York State Atlas and Gazetteer) [Publisher: DeLorme]
Now I've got more than enough info... Part of the fun for me is the adventure and the discovery of new streams.
