Report on Smallmouth fishing in September

Because my trip was cut short and the weather was aginst me this trip I didn't get a chance to use my fly rod while out on the lake this time. I did catch about 40 nice smallies one day using my spinning gear though. They ranged from 1-6lbs. I picked up a couple of other ones during my trip but they were by accident while fishing for walleyes. The lake I was on was very strange this year as inthe springtime they had the dam open and the lake was down and the fish were down in the 40 foot range all year, they never came up much. I have all my gear packed away and plan on trying it again in the spring. I made notes on what everyone told me and I'll try to put them to use next year.
