Beachburger is bang on. In the spring when i target them they are not picky. In mid april I use size 12-16 flies, and I start going bigger as the water warms. Using a size 14 fly where I fish makes it impossible to keep the sunfish off. I go up to a size 6, and it still works. I just tie a rabbit(white, pink or chartreuse) tail and either krystal flash or chenille wrapped along the hook as a body. I then tie chain eyes, and I always fish three of these at a time. Since crappie are sometimes tightly schooled there are lots of doubles :D
