Tuesday Evening Fishing (Pre-Season Prep)

Post by Todd B. »

Well it won't be too long before we're all back wetting a fly. That being said it's about time to start planning for this season's evening fishing outings. The following is a list of possible locations for this season. I've added Dow's Lake as an option for panfish, given the late open season for bass.
  • Ottawa R. - Bates Island
  • Ottawa R. - Filtration Plant
  • Rideau R. - Strathcona Park
  • Rideau R. - Billings Bridge
  • Rideau R. - Carleton U.
  • Rideau R. - Hog's Back Falls
  • Rideau R. - Long Island
  • Dow's Lake
If anyone has any other location that they'd like to see on the list just let me know. Keep in mind that the location should be able to support 10-15 flyfishers.

Cheers,
Todd

It would be great to get some wadeable pike waters on this list to while away the weeks before bass opens.

Beachburger,

The only pike water on the list is Billings Bridge and possibly Strathcona Park. We can always gear up for Pike and give them a shot.

Sounds good, when does this usually start up? also- are these for wading, walking or tubing? Any carp locations on the bill?

Evan,

Last year I started it up once Bass season was open but I'm think of an outing for panfish and pike prior to bass season. All of the sites are chosen for wading (though for panfish we might be ok from shore where I'm thinking.) The only caveat is that given the number of participants we need room for 10+ people. That being said, I personally don't know of a spot for carp that could support 10+ anglers.

If you want to get into some carp, talk to Dan at the next OFS meeting.
