Reel Question

Hey All,
I actually just got a fly rod and reel given to me by a family member who bought it a while ago and never used it. Anyways I checked it and there seems to be a problem with the reel. It makes a grinding noise and jams a little when reeling. I think it just needs some grease and what not, but just curious if anyone had any suggestions on what the problem might be. The rod is Abu Garcia and the reel Browning 2167..any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds like it's been dropped in the sand and some has got stuck in behind the spool. Take the spool off, give the reel and spool a rinse in some water. Clean any sand, debris, grease with a q-tip. Re-grease and oil with appropriate reel lube.
