Dist,
I am new to the Ottawa area, as I just took a job up here. Originally from Southwestern Ontario.
I brought my old fly rod up with me though, and am still a beginner to the sport I guess you could say.
I've been eyeing up on the map some of these smaller lakes in the Lanark area. Is anyone familiar with that country? I am just curious how accessible it is and if the fishing (in general is decent, am hoping to maybe get into some bows or brooks).
For the time beeing I am restricted to shore (unless I can find a cheap float), so I'm sure with the thick bush it'll be primarily roll casting.
Anyways, any insight is greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Sean.
Small Lakes in Lanark area...
Sean,
Well it's not to say that you can't try to fish from shore. Shiner, Lower Twin, Tooeys have very limited shore access. Being on the water is the only way to effectively find the fish. That being said, there are a few creeks up that way that are fishable, though actually finding any trout can be a challenge.
