New UK Carp Fisherman

Post by Terry_F »

I just received an email from my nephew in UK.
His Dad took him carp fishing using a whip, it seems its a rod with a line tied on, but no reel.
Anyway he landed his first carp. 3lbs.

Thought you guys might like to share the moment.

Well done Jack.

Nice looking carp!

Here in Japan they fish with long (5 - 7 meters!!!), whip-like rods onto which line is attached without the use of a reel. It seems effective enough since I saw people catching carp with them.

Carp are an under-exploited resource in Canada, but it seems the rest of the world has no problem targeting them.
Time's fun when you're having flies.

Very nice carp

Looks like a leather carp almost but has a few scales so it's probably a young Mirror carp.........

I think we only have common carp here.......no leather or mirror variations....

Cool!

Thanks for the report

Is this fly-fishing for CARP?

Got any sites on how this is done? Strategy and what not.

Those Carp are huge, but they are outrageously hideous. They remind me of the Orcs in Lord of the Rings. Nice fish though, monsters.
