New to area

Post by troutaddict »

Hello everyone,

I recently just moved to Kingston and have been astounded with how much water there is in Eastern Ontario. Makes Central Ontario look like a crappy desert. Anyway, I am a fly fishing junkie and I'm looking foward to picking some brains sometime down the road and hopefully puttin some time in fishing this excellent area!
This is a great board you guys have put together and can't wait to contribute.

I'll make it quick cause i know everyone hates newbie posts, but I thought I say hi and hope to know you in the future.

I thought I'd check out the KAFFC club this week-need to meet some fishinjunkies to tie flies with and blab about spots.

Anyway, great board again.

P.S It is nice to see a board with a bunch of people interested in fishing and sharing knowledge instead of so many places where it is a EGO fest-nice job once again.

troutaddict,

Welcome to the boards.

Though I am in the Ottawa region, I can say that you will benefit greatly from the people on this forum. I recently relocated here myself from Southwestern Ontario and within a few weeks these guys were quick to point me in the direction of some good water.

Welcome to the boards.

troutadict,

While we do have a lot more water, we are limited in available cold water river fisheries, unlike the 4 or 5 around the GTA. If you're looking to fish rivers/streams for trout, you will find yourself making frequent treks down to fish the Addiraondacks in NY. It's close and the fisheries down there are usually well managed.

Now if you're a stillwater trout angler, you'll find lots of opportunities in Eastern Ontario.
