Bondo,

They haven't banned them, however they do want you to disinfect them when you move between rivers, especially ones that are indicated to be infected with dittmo.

Thanks Todd. I will do some more research prior to heading down to ensure I am in compliance with the local regs.

Another added benefit of the boots- they are extremely comfortable to wear while sititng in my new kayak (Mad River Canoe Synergy 14)! My feet didn't slip off the foot rests, and the padded ankle support didn't tire out my feet the 3+ hours I spent on the water.

As an aside- it was bleeming COLD on Sunday for a first ride out, wearing waders and boots was the way to go!

More time in boots...

Post by JeanDorais »

After wading again on Sunday on the Mississippi, I can say that these new boots are great! The Vibram sole is grippy, even on the moss-covered rocks. Great ankle support and surprisingly light-weight. They are kind of 'weird' in a way- the entire inside lining of the boot is neoprene, resulting in much longer drying times.

Not cheap, but so far worth every penny.

Tight lines,

Jean

After losing the felt off my boots in BC, I finally got around to replacing them with new set of Korkers with the interchangeable soles. I tried them out on the weekend in NY with the felts. They worked well (as expected). Today I bought the new 'klingon' sticky rubber soles with carbide studs and tried them out on the Rideau. I was impressed. The studs cut right through the slim and algae on the rocks. The sticky rubber tread gripped the rocks and held on tight. They also worked well when climbing around on the hard packed muddy riverbanks where felt soles are usually very slippery.

Cheers,

Felt bottoms boots in NY

Post by Grouch »

I fished the Aux Sable on June 4, 5 with a guide, wore my felt boots with no problem. Had a great time caught 5 Browns and a Rainbow. The fly shops are pushing the rubber bottomed boots but as far as I could tell there was no ban on felt.

After going out some 30 times with the new Simms G4 Guide Pro boots so far this year, I must say that I am really impressed. The boots are really comfortable to wear (I honestly forget I'm wearing them!), have outstanding ankle support (one of the major weak points of my previous boots) and an amazing grippy, non-felt sole.

Many thanks again to Greg at FP&F for ordering them for me-

Tight lines,

Jean D.
