Pike in Shiner Lake

Fished Shiner lake today. Nothing big, just a few little rainbows between 8 and 12". Pike in Shiner though seems to be doing real well. Spotted
three - one was in 30" range and two were around 25". And they ain't shy.
I had to kick one with my fin to make it move. Guys fishing from the shore spotted one more, which makes at least four of them in the lake.
Ice fishing for big pike at Shiner looks pretty promising :D

I've heard of the pike in Shiner, but I've never actually seen them. Gotta get after them with the 9-wt. What patterns did your rainbows take?

Fishboy:
The patterns I used were Black Woolly Buggers(#8), green Carey Special (#8), Gold Ribbed Hare's Ear (#10).
If you want to see the pike look in the far bay on your right. They will be
either near sunken log close to the shore or suspending near drop off
on the western side of the bay.

I've seen some big pike crusing the shallows. Looked bigger than 30". and it was nice and thick! must feed like a king in there. If I'm around, I'm gonna give it a go!

Hmmm...soundsl like it's time to slay some pike! I'm sure the MNR aren't too happy to have had someone introduce them to Shiner.

Well, stopped by Shiner to snatch some minnows and take a stab at those pike, second cast jerkin my 5" bomber long A Rainbow trout pattern, Smack, thinkin there's the Pike, nope 17'' Bow :D Nice surprise, guess they like the fingerlings too  Anyway didn't stick around too long as 5 kids hackin away at logs and yelling didn't make for a pleasant afternoon  Ah well thats what happens when the lake is right on the side of the road, Good luck to anyone headin out soon, and ice is forming in the shallows, as well as on white lake.

Cheers,

Rich
