I'm going to guess that is generally on the quite large side for walleye.
What is the typical range of forage sizes in late Summer in say, Calabogie Lake and other walleye waters in the area? Seven centimetre minnows of different species? Ten or 12 cm yellow perch?
Left to my own (uniformed) devices, I'd be inclined to tie streamers for walleye mostly on hook sizes 4, 6, and 8. Too small for Eastern Ontario in August?
7/0 Deceiver for Walleye?
How long are the hooks?
Saltwater type flies like Decievers, 2/0-1.
Longer shank like muddlers and trout bucktails....say 3-4XL then 2-4 would be fine. A Micky Finn sz 2 or 4 would be my first pick substituting the red for orange and a Marabou Muddler after dark.....you need something that floats and pushes lots of water.
Frankly walleye in Calabogie Lake on a fly in August is a pretty tough order. Stick with the bass.

Thanks for the reply. Do you expect walleye to be tough everywhere in August? I've bought full sinking lines in order to fish deep in the daytime, but I understand dusk, dawn, and night fishing may be more productive.
I'd still like to learn what the primary forage species are and in what sizes. Ciscoes? Daces? Shiners? Yellow perch? In Lake Clear west of Renfrew?
Anyone ever attach a small spinner blade ahead of the fly similar to a crawler harness?
I understand bass might provide better odds, but we're overrun with them, and the season never closes. I'd much rather catch what for me are exotics: walleye and yellow perch.
