hey all,

I had another outstanding day of mother's day fishing. It started off on the rideau crappie fishing. After Nodie and I found them we caught a tonne. After feeling something big and seeing a gold flash I knew I hooked up with a carp. After fighting it with my 4wt for a while I thought it was snagged. When I brought it in it was hooked right beside the lips, my first carp on the fly :D What a fight :!: I am happy to say it is my first completed goal of the year. I ended the morning with 35 crappie, several sunfish and my first carp. I wish I had brought my camera to take a picture of my first carp...next time!

In the afternoon I got a call from a friend wondering if I wanted to explore an area on the rideau where he had seen fisherman recently. We went trying to catch pike and walleye, so I tied on a size 1/0 chartreuse and white half and half and he used a large olive wooly buggger. On my third cast I hooked what I thought was a big oos muskie. After fighting it for a couple of minutes I brought it in and to my surprise it was a pike! I mesured it and it was 35 inches, a personal best and a hell of a fight. It's too bad I forgot a camera. I could not believe my eyes, and it was the biggest pike I had ever seen caught. I am not sure the weight so I will not guess, but it was a healthy fish.

We fished another few hours with not much to show for, but my friend caught a 14 inch walleye on an olive wooly bugger.

It was a great day of fishing, and I cannot wait for next mother's day...It's always lucky for me!

My luck streak continues. I was out on the rideau again tonite and I caught 3 eyes on a golden olive wooly bugger. A solid day for walleye on the fly.

Im off to Maine for some (in season)smallmouth bass, landlocked salmon, brookies and chain pickerel on thursday. Im definitely bringing the camera there :P , i'll have a report up when I get back.
