Again I would like to thank Fishboy and Mosquito for there help in getting me ready for my trip up on the Nipigon River this year. I spent 2 days fishing all stretchs of the river above Alexander Dam and had a wonderful time. The first day I caught and released 10 fish. 6 Brook Trout between 5-9lbs, 2 Lake Trout about 3-5lbs, and 2 White fish of which one was 12lbs 8 oz! It was 28" long and had a girth of 22"!!! Not bad for a beginner on a fly rod. The gentleman I was with from Thunder Bay was tagging and taking data from the Brook Trout for the DNR and I found it all very interesting and I learnned a lot from the trip. The greatest lesson I learned was to respect that river and the fish hatchery it represents. I have a whole new understanding of the river and the resource that must be protected to insure that future generations will get to see and use the river. Once again for the guys from Canada that helped prepare me for this trip thank you and if your ever in the Chicago area you have a place to stay and trade fishing stories for helping to make my dreams becaome a reality. If anyone would like some pictures of my trip and fish just send me your email address and I'll email them to you as I don't know how to post them on line.

Specks between 5 & 9 lbs......that's why Nipigon is a must for any fly angler!!!!

I'm glad you enjoyed your trip, Bernie. We'll keep in touch because there are some creeks near Chicago that hold nice trout and I may be tempted to visit to confirm what I've heard.

Well done, Bernie. Glad you had a great time, and I bet you did. For many of us a 5lb brookie is a life time dream, but 9#.... Thanks for posting and good luck to you.
