This Tuesday's location will be (Rideau R.) at Billings Bridge. I took a quick peak at the water on the weekend and it is running extremely low right not. Fishing will be limited to the tail outs and a few of the deeper pools/runs. This week's location was chosen more for those who have not fished Billings Bridge before. While SM are probably the most abundant fish in the Billings stretch, catches of pike, walleye and muskie are also possible.
During the spring/fall when the water levels are higher it may appear that the area is unfishable when in fact there is an extensive area of fishable water if you know you way around the area. Tuesday will allow anglers new to the spot to get a feel for the area and be able to fish it later in the fall.
Parking (see map) on the street is available along Warrington Dr. There steps down to the water on the north shore, opposite the bottom of the lower island. (Note: some of the steps have rotted out since last season so watch your step!)
See you at around 6ish.
Cheers,
Todd

Well if you managed to hook into one and don't feel that your rod can handle it all you have to to do is point it straight at the fish and lock your reel. Your line will break without putting any stress on your rod.
Besides, it's a rush when you hook into one of those toothy critters when you're not expecting it!

Holes...
I am a newbie obviously. I am following this very interesting thread about fly fishing. I note that Todd and others mention "deep holes"...etc. How can we know where these holes are? Do we strictly have to use a sonar/depth finder for that, or are there approximate ways to tell where these deeper holes are?
Thanks.
Thanks.
