Hi guys,
I have been given a fly rod but I do not know how to use one. Just wondering of there is anyone around that knows if there is someone that gives lessons on how to use a fly rod ? I always thought it looked like a pretty relaxing way to wish one a person knew how to do it.

Congratulations and may be a warning - fly fishing can be addictive.

Green Drake Outfitters on Holland Avenue offers a one day course on the basics of fly fishing including hands on casting. I have taken it in the past and benefited from it. I am not sure of the coming dates but if you check with the store they can help you out.

Also, the Ottawa Flyfisher Society has a booked a gym for a few Sunday afternoons to give people a chance to practice their casting through the winter. People are pretty good about helping others out. I am sure you would be more than welcome. Go to their website http://ottawaflyfishers.com/ and check under the calendar for dates.
