St. Regis

Oh upstate New York....

Although I have been pounding the Salmon and Chateaugay river I'm inclined to start trying some other rivers in the area this season. Was wondering if anyone had any info that can't be found on NY state websites about the St Regis. For the past few years I've been hearing wispers of big browns cruising that river and although I have hooked into and been with people who've hooked into a few on the two aforementioned rivers I wouldn't mind finding something a little more consistent. Plus a change of scenery is always nice.

Thanks in advance!

P.S. to whomever was responding to my posts about Jamaica in December I ended up staying at the Bahia Principe in Montego Bay and it was gorgeous but it rained for the last three days. You were correct, though, the drinks/food were better than any other place down south that I have been to so far. Didn't end up bringing the fly rod but after a few Pina Coladas and bikini watching it didn't really matter.

The St. Regis warms up quicker and stays warmer than the other rivers in the area. Either go early or late in the season. If you go during the heat of the summer be prepared to catch a lot of black bass. You'll need to cover a lot of water to find where the cold water springs are coming in. If you can find the colder water, you'll find the trout. Bring a thermometer.
