Tomorrow will be my first time out in a tube. I want to make it a good day, and im planing on heading out early, around 6 ish. I don't know where I should head out though. Im thinking Fitzroy Harbor but im not sure what the tubing there will be like. Seeing how I have access to the board I figured I would just ask about some spots anywhere in Ottawa where I can catch either Bass, pike or Walleye. **And I don't mean specific spots, im not trying to steal anyone's honey hole, just a point in the right direction would be awesome because I have come to the conclusion that Ottawa is a pretty big place compared to me and my float tube .

Oh, also, are there any meetings for OFS coming up?

Not sure what the fishing is like at Fitzroy but I would try to find a place with less current. Above the dam at Fitzroy is a bay where the Mississippi meets up with the Ottawa. If memory serves, there is a gravel launch on the Miss. This area is quite sheltered and you will find bass, pike and maybe a muskie.

Another suggestion is Clayton Lake. I have never fished it from a tube but I have fished it from a boat a couple of times and there are some very big bass hiding in all those stumps. Find the road that ends at the channel that connects Clayton Lake and Taylor Lake. I think you can access the water from there. Clayton is very shallow and the bottom is composed of stumps and weeds. Bring the 8wt. if you go here.

The OFS doesn't meet again until Sept.

Hey Mitch, do you have a death wish? jk, I would never tube at Fitzroy....The current is just too damn strong and the dam is unpredictable.

We had hard enough time keeping from dying in a 150hp boat. The current is very strong there because of that huge dam.

You'll be either sucked under, to your death, or brought down the river far far away from your vehicle. When I say far I mean miles.....many many miles. lol.....

I mean, I would never go out in a float tube in that area. I find it hard enough in a boat with that big Dam bearing down on you, ready to let out a bunch of water on you and suck u down to the depths...lol.. But hey it's your life. lol

I personally would never feel comfortable floating in anything more than the Rideau. And even then it could be dangerous in some of the currents, even at Burrits Rapids or Manotick.

Always wear ur big orange life jacket! lol.....
