Summer Evening Fishing (July 22nd)

Post by Todd B. »

Location: Bate Island (Ottawa R.)
Time: 6pm or whenever you want to get on the water
Parking: Lots of parking available
Access Points: Typcially from the SE (downstream) side of the island.
Species: SM, walleye, Brown Trout, etc.
Suggested Flies: your fav SM streamers, etc., poppers, etc. Weighted flies for the deeper pools and faster water

Notes:
Proper wading boots, wading staff and PFD are highly recommended for this location. The water levels look as though they've come down a bit, unfortunately the weather has not been very cooperative this summer.

wongrs,

If you can't make it out for the Tuesday, just throw a posting up for another night. I know I'm usually available for other nights as well. I'm sure some of the other guys are also.

true dat. i'll do that next time.

mostly i fish the canal just because it's so close to me. heading to the rideau is also a possibility.

i probably fish the canal 3 times a week so if anyone wants to fish the canal with me (close to 417) i can meet up most nights if i'm not fishing elsewhere.

i'll post next time i'm heading out.

It was good to meet some of you tonight. I enjoyed the evening - even if the fish were somewhat less than cooperative (for me, at least).

Til next time.

Evan,

The fishing was definitely mixed for everyone. I managed 9 SM but you really had to work for them because of the high water. For me a HEAVY olive woollybugger was the fly of choice.
