Pink Salmon Run?
Pink Salmon Run?
Which river can I target during the Pink Salmon run that isn't to far from here. I know you have to put in a couple hours on the road, but I thought they weren't to far. Or do you have to go all the way out to Sault Ste Marie?
Here is a few links to some Fish-Hawk reports:

Yah your gonna have to drive about......12 hours to find those.......thats just my guess......
You could drive to Gaspe inalmost that much time and get sea-run brook trout galore.......
My dad fishes a place and catches tons of them every year........you can catch like 30 a day easily.......
But this is in the real wilderness.....mountains and stuff.....
Mitch why are you trying to find Pink Salmon anyways? Whats wrong with normal salmon? haha...
You can fish the Ganaraska for Salmon and Steelhead etc.......it's only like 3hours away.......
Or you can fish the Nottawasaga or many other rivers for salmon......
Black River in upstate NY is very close........Pink salmon are pretty weird lookin though.......funny humpbacked fish......haha....
Anyways, Take care!

Pink salmon run strongest on the odd number years. I left Ottawa a few years ago to fish pinks out side of Blind River and it took 6-6 1/2 hrs to get there by following #17. Pinks run every year up there so this year you might only end up with a million spawners instead of 5 million. Most streams will get a run from Espanola to the Sault. The St. Marys river in the Sault is well known for fly fishing pinks. If you have two drivers its not a bad trip at all. We usually leave at midnight to arrive for sunup. Lots of motels with good off season rates in the area. I will be up there early this year so I can report back on whether or not the run has started. With changes at work looks like I will be up there Sept.6th to 9th. Normally I would go between the 15th and 25th.
