I've been waking up at 4:30 am for no good reason, so I end up getting my work done earlier in the day. Yesterday after work, we went to Charleston Lake with the neighbours so the kids could go to the beach at around 3:30 pm. Took the canoe and rods. Started chucking senkos for Smallies, caught a few nice ones, so I pulled out the fly rod. This was way more fun. This was near the beach area which is fairly heavily fished for the lake. 12" fish are fun on the fly rod, but 3 lb bass really puts a bend in the 6 wt rod. I have had this rod out twice now and 3lb is by far my biggest on the fly rod yet. After that I really am addicted to the fly rod, anyone want to buy some spinning gear?

Haha... Yeah... I need to fish... I have to feed the addiction... Fly-Fishing is like tenderloin, spin casting is more like burgers... I love a good burger, and sometimes I "need" to have one, but there is nothing like the taste of rare tenderloin... I'm sooo hungry.... what are we talking about??

fly fishing in a boat is ok..in a kayak it is just.. yaaaaaaaa.

I know what you mean about addiction. Drove to Georgia two winters ago to fish trout in January. Got there and it was -5C. I questioned my sanity at that point. The things we do for fishing....

I know what you mean. I took my son out fishing last night. Me with a fly rod and him with spinning gear. After a while, we switched rods. The spinning outfit felt foreign to me and weighed a ton. I don't think that I'd be happy using spinning gear any more.

My baitcasting reel broke last year, I took it as a sign that I should never us regular tackle again . Needless to say it won't be replaced.

Aren't you fishing out of a canoe? If that's the case you haven't even had to purchase waders or boots yet. My first year of flyfishing was down on the cheap. I made my own fishing lanyard rather than fork out $45 for one.
