Morris Island Conservation Area

Post by wongrs »

went out to morris island yesterday with my girlfriend. lots of active fish in fairly shallow water willing to feed on the surface. my new frog popper caught a bunch of fish including this decent guy who slammed the popper as soon as it hit the water. probably more to do with the popper landing on its head than the actual fly pattern.

we had a bit of a battle fighting the wind in the canoe. i'm starting to understand that wind + canoe can be my sworn arch nemesis. still better than fishing from shore so can't really complain.

for the person that asked, here's a pic of my frog popper:

it's nothing special. marabou for legs and ice dubbed body. i've bought some acrylic paint today to experiment with. the next versions of the popper will have fatter bodies and stiffer rear legs.
