Well, I just got back from what has become a regular trip to Kenauk by a large group of OFS members. Unfortunately I did not have the vacation days left to stay till Thursday morning, which I would have given the choice.

In any case, the fishing was off the chart this fall. The current theory is that they may have over stocked the lakes, due to the pending closure of the resident fish hatchery. Whatever the reason, the fishing was pretty much fast and furious most of the time. 30+ fish days per person was common, with the rainbows averaging a healthy 13"-18", along with the occasional lunker.

The hot flies amoungst the group in our cabin were:
- Hamell's Killer (yellow, orange, black, chartreuse)
- Yellow Zoo Cougar
- Mrs Simpson
- Rusty Bugger
- Orange boobie

While we were marking fish throughout the water column, the majority of use stuck with sink tip line, targeting fish in the top 10'. Fast stripping definitely out produced slow drifts this time out.

Lots of trout + good wine/scotch = Priceless!

Well I managed to download my pics off my camera. I must say taht I was disappointed with a number of them but I'm posting a few that did turn out.

Hey, Fuzion wine eh? Was it tricky to get? When I was fishing last weekend people on the river were saying how hard it is to find it right now, and I was in Brantford.

Kenauk looks like a nice place to fish, but maybe a little to easy?

You guys are killing me!!!!! I really wish I could have been there, too.

I'm glad you had a great time. Green Lake was the more productive of the two this time according to Bob. Those are nice looking rainbows.

Also, I recognize that bottle of whisky with the blue label in the front...it's great for starting fires, eh?

I wouldn't know...I myself stuck to the good stuff...which only lasted the first night. LOL

We've never had a bad trip at Kenauk. Definitely a first class establishment.

Typically what would something like this cost for the weekend (2 nights)

Well the summer "get away" special for 2 adults and 2 children (3 nights) worked out to about $85/person per night. I've heard that it's sometimes possible to get a deal on one or two night stays early in the week, if you call at the last moment and hope that they have any cabins that have not been booked.

Keep in mind that there are only 2 or three small cabins, the rest sleep groups of 6 or more.
