Things I Have Learned

By a margin of two to one, Tsurimi River carp prefer flies that have been smeared with peanut butter.
Monday was a slow day on the river. The carp were on the surface and I managed a few hook-ups, but none stayed on for more than a few seconds. Then the carp began looking at my flies and turning away at the last second. I tried the peanut butter gambit to see what would happen. The peanut butter made a big difference. there were several takes, but no clean hook sets. I guess I was too quick on the set.
I might try tuna oil next time.
