With the rains holding off I decided that another quick trip to the Jock was in order. While the heat an humidity was borderline unbearable, the bite was on with lots of rise forms. The visible hatches for the evening were small dark tricos (#22) and huge Hex spinners (#4).

While it's not trout fishing, it does provide an opportunity to practice some of your dry fly and emerger presentations with light equipment.

Amoungst the couple dozen small rock bass and SM, I did manage to hook into a SM with some more respectable size, though none over 12". Now the walleye were another story, with two well coloured 15" eyes coming to hand. The photo is of the first one.

Nice looking Wally! I love those dry fly nights where every cast gets a hit. Was that the Hex pattern you were using to bag that eye'. I've yet to catch a Walter on the fly and was curious as to what works best.

Looks to me like you're a real fly warrior!

Sorry....Upon closer inspection I see that that's the conehead bead head you mentioned in earlier threads

Someone on an earlier thread mentioned something about the weight of that fly. To me it doesn't look too heavy. I found a plastic substitute for the tungstun cone and bead head in the sewing department at Walmart. It really saves on the bulkiness on the fly, not to mention the price difference.

Either way that fish must've been a real nice fight on the 4wt.

Looks can be deceiving. You could use that beast on the business end of a baitcaster
