Colour or Mono screen?

Post by pikeonthe fly »

Quick question for you guys. Considering investing ina split screen fish finder/GPS for this coming season. Has anyone used the Monochrome screen units and have upgraded to colour. Big difference in cost and wondered if given the chance again, would you upgrade anyway, or would you have stuck with the momo...and saved some bucks! :?:

Thanks to all.

I have had both and will never own a monochrome GPS again. With the chips you can buy, the amount of definition you can get with a colour unit is incredible. Different colours for different depths etc. As to the depth finder, what might appear as a bump on bottom with a mono unit shows up as a different colour if it is made from different material than the bottom (eg. brush pile). There is a difference in price but my humble opinion is that it is worth it.

I have a mono its nice but colour I think is diffinetly the way of the future. I just bought mine 2 years ago and the colour ones have come way down in price!!! I just couldnt justify the cash a couple of years ago. I think the screens are just going to get bigger and better in the next few years. The ones by lowrance are awesome. Do it man buy the one you want. ( just dont let the wife know)

I switched to colour this year and love it so far. I find theres quicker recognitiong for me when I quickly glance at the screen cause the colours stand out so much better.

Switched to a colour GPS/FF Combo last year, they are pricey but it paid for itself on the first trip out. If you are going split screen, be sure to get the highest res you can afford. I scraped together enough for the Lowrance 332c, 5" screen, and it beats the 330c hands down in defintion of map features. For BOQ, GLE, Kawarthas and Ottawa, the Navionics chip is great.

You are going to love the LCX 25C, great unit with lots of screen space for split-screen GPS and Sonar. The screen shots I placed up above are from the LCX 25C.

enjoy...
